Saltwater Snipers!

WOW!  Now that is a different type of bowfishing craft!  He is strapped in like Quint from Jaws!  In actuality he is bowfishing but practicing    Catch-and-Release on Humpback Whales! Bowfishing know-how can and is being used in the research of these Whales.  It is a fascinating story!

On the right Jerry is demonstrating that a gaff is indeed a handy tool when handling these "whip tailed" Rays.  These Stingrays have a serrated barb on their   tail  that is coated in an irritating venom!  These Barbs do make handsome trophies to hang on the wall however!  The barb of this 45 pound ray, taken off of Conch Key Florida, made a nice mount on  a  wooden plaque.

On the left is Captain Joe Colletti filleting up a tasty Redfish.  Captain Joe runs ExtremeBowfishing Chartersin New Orleans.  He is a master of the bay and estuaries around the Gulf.  Certainly worth looking up if you are ever in the  area.

Bowfishing is a sport that can be shared by the entire family.  Here Jerry and Anna sit and relax as they take in the sun and waves of Marathon Key in Florida.    They  brought the fillet from this 40 pound stingray to a local restaurant that night and wow was it ever delicious!  Never pass up the opportunity to eat some tasty Southern Stingray.  Always remember  to   include your family in your adventures.
